September was a busy month for religion. There were many big religious holidays and lectures. Now the month wraps up with the 70th anniversary of World Communion Day.
On Sunday October 1, 2006 will take Holy Communion on the same day. This will be an expression of Christian unity. Whether we use pita bread or whole wheat bread or rice bread- depending on where in the world we celebrate- we feast together on the idea that Christ draws us together, said the Rev. Clay Schmit, a professor of preaching and worship at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena. To foster interfaith understanding, Wilshire Boulevard Temple on Tuesday launched the Center fro Religious Inquiry. The synagogue becomes the West Coast location for “the nationwide effort to build bridges between faith traditions.” Despite the fact that 80% of Americans say that they are Christians, people have agreed that America is not a Christian nation.
Many people agree that this will never be a Christian nation.
